2023 Eaton School Strawberry Social
Eaton School’s Annual Strawberry Social was held on May 30th. Staff, students and members of
the community came out to enjoy music performed by Grade 5-12 students led by band
director Diedra Whitell.
The Strawberry Social has been a tradition in Eatonia for around the past 40 years. It’s the last
performance of the school year for the students to showcase how much they have grown over
the year. Angel food cake topped with strawberry and ice cream is served at intermission.
The students attended Cantando Festival in Edmonton at the end of April. Taking the advice and
information they received from the adjudicators there, and using it to perfect their pieces. A performance that delighted the crowd. Ms. Whitell states how “proud she is of her student’s performance at the event”. She has seen so much growth in the students in a short period of time. “The beginner band grades 5 & 6 really blew the crowd out of the water.” She is looking forward to another great year of music next year.
That’s a wrap for band performances at Eaton School this year. And now we eat Cake!
