D Jay McGrath Makes an Exciting Announcement!

“Hey guys, summer is here and I’ve been busy!

I have started to play street hockey every week for the kids, something I wanted to continue after my success with my outdoor rink skates this winter. Its been awesome! I’ve been getting kids coming that didn’t come out to my outdoor event because they don’t play hockey, but they come out instead to hang out with myself, so that’s nice! I am headed out to Kerrobert on Wednesday, May 31st, to play street hockey with the kids. Why Kerrobert you ask? I’m trying to give back to the communities that got me to speak to their schools.

I’ve also been busy over on Instagram lives. My goal was to create an audience on my social media so that I can bring people on to share their stories. I believe everyone has a story and when someone comes on to share it, it’s powerful. I have created some cool relationships with the sober community and I’m trying to get as many guests on so I can help as many people possible that are listening. People reach out to me asking to come on which has been great, or if I am following someone and they are share their story, I reach out to them because I know how hard it is to speak up and share, especially in front of an audience.

Lately I have been busy chatting with hockey teams for the next hockey season. I’m doing my best to try and be involved with hockey leagues in Saskatchewan to share my story and help with these athletes with their mental health journey! I am a strong believer that if these kids have someone to talk to, away from the rink, their game and their mental health will be way better knowing that they have someone to talk to.

Lastly, I’m so excited to officially announce that on the August 11th weekend I am having a West Central Wheat King Mental Health 3vs3 tournament right here in Kindersley and I’m so excited. I always wanted to find a way to give back to the community and organizing something at the hockey rink, and this is a great opportunity for me to do so.

I’m busy getting it organized and with the help of Marley Ervine, Amber Rennie, Tyson Wuttunee, and Nikki Meschishnick, I couldn’t have made it possible! This is going to be a great event to bring the community together and to have some fun!

Remember, it’s okay to not be okay!”
