KFD Hosts BBQ At Hall for Members & Families
Hello, Cody Phinney back for another update from the Kindersley Fire Brigade.
Hopefully everyone had a safe and happy Halloween! Recently members of the KFD have been training in the hall going over some of the basics with our newer members. We use several of our own trained and certified members to do most of our day-to-day training. These members also are some of our most experienced personnel who have found their own tips and tricks for different situations they are able to pass along to some of our greener members.
The KFD Social Club hosted a BBQ at our hall for our members and their families recently. Our Social Club usually hosts about four events throughout the year to bring us and our families together in a relaxed and casual way. Our PubEd department will be heading to the Kindersley Composite School this week to run some of the students through our PubEd Trailer. We were also at Westberry Elementary School for a fire drill and a presentation. Check out our Facebook page at Kindersley Fire for pictures.
The snow and ice have finally arrived, and that’s never more noticeable than on our highways. Winter conditions can cause some serious road hazards while traveling that we should all be prepared for. Keeping a well stocked emergency kit in your vehicle can save a bad situation from being a deadly one. Some basic items for your emergency kit should include warm blankets, non-perishable food and water, as well as some matches and a few candles. A single lit candle can keep the cab of your vehicle at a survivable temperature if necessary. If you find yourself in white out conditions and become stranded, you should never get out of your vehicle to find help. Its extremely easy, and common, for travelers who leave their vehicles in a blizzard to become disoriented and lost. Thanks for reading!
