Canora RCMP: Charges laid in case of carbon monoxide poisoning incident at workplace

On May 3, 2024, Canora RCMP received a report of carbon monoxide poisoning of a minor at their place of work, a business on Norway Road in Canora, SK.

Canora RCMP immediately opened an investigation into the matter.

Police officers determined that on October 23, 2023, a 14-year-old employee was exposed to carbon monoxide while employed and on shift at the business. A person of authority had asked the employee to use, inside their place of work, a gas-powered device that was designed for outdoor usage.

The employee was transported to hospitals in Canora and then to Alberta for medical care related to the exposure to carbon monoxide.

On August 28, 2025, as a result of police investigation and consultation with Saskatchewan Crown Prosecution, Kyle Kaiser from Canora, SK, has been charged with:

  • One count, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, section 221 of the Criminal Code.

Kyle Kaiser has been arrested and released. His next appearance in court is scheduled for October 2, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in Canora, SK.

Canora RCMP were not contacted when the initial incident occurred in 2023 and immediately began investigating when information related to the incident was reported to them in 2024.
