Kindersley Fire Visits Caleb Village
“Public Education is something the Kindersley Fire Department is very passionate about, our team is always trying to find creative ways to get our lessons into the community. Recently, our team spent the day at Caleb teaching fire safety and handing out fire blankets to all the residents and any community members who decided to partake in a group lesson. We would like to give a big thank you to the Kindersley Better Together organization for partnering with some of our local businesses to purchase one fire blanket for every unit inside Caleb Village.
Kindersley Fire is incredibly fortunate to have such amazing community support, each of the three large senior and assisted community living buildings in Kindersley has had a local business or entrepreneur contact us and assist us in getting a fire blanket for every suite in all three buildings. That is a combined total of nearly 200 suites.
A big thank you goes out to Candy Gordon, Whitecap Resources and Better Together for the recent support in getting these fire blankets into the large group living communities. If you are wanting to support or sponsor something we are working on or would like us to attend a specific event please reach out to us.
If you would like a fire blanket, please email firepubed@kindersley.ca With your name, the amount of blankets you would like and a contact phone number. we will add you to our list and we will make sure that we bring in enough fire blankets that everyone who contacts us gets them. This process may take a little time so we ask for your patience. Blankets will be $20 a blanket, we can deliver them within Town of Kindersley limits for an additional $5. Alternatively, feel free to speak to any of our members about getting a fire blanket. Let them know your email your phone number and how many blankets you would like and they will get that information onto our list.
Just a quick reminder that Fire blankets are meant as a supplement to fire extinguishers, and they are not a replacement of a fire extinguisher. Each device is very capable of suppressing a fire, however, there are scenarios where one device is better than the other and that changes from situation to situation. We believe through our experiences the fire blankets are one of the most user-friendly and safest methods for a stove top or kitchen fire when caught quickly. Fire blankets are also incredibly effective in suppressing any fire that is contained to a specific spot such as a steel trashcan, pot, or fire pit. Fire bankets also work as a supplement to suppressing clothing fires when used in conjunction with stop, drop, and roll.
We would love to make ourselves available to you and your group. I f there’s something that our public education team could do for you, your event or business, please reach out to us. We do safety presentations; we bring our public education to larger events, and we host smaller groups at the fire hall with the public education trailer. Groups outside of Kindersley can either contact their local fire department and have them contact us or send us a message and we will work with your local fire department to assist you in whichever way we can.
Remember, fire safety, and fire prevention is everyone’s responsibility. It starts with a conversation.”
