KFD Members Prepping for Fall Fire School
Hello, Cody Phinney back for another update from the Kindersley Fire Brigade.
Kindersley Fire members have been working hard out at our Training Grounds to prepare for our Fall Fire School we are hosting for the Saskatchewan Volunteer Fire Fighters Association. Twice a year the S.V.F.F.A. conducts a three-day training weekend where firefighters from all over the province travel to attend. Kindersley Fire was selected to host this years fall school and are preparing to host upwards of 250 firefighters and instructors at the end of September. Participants will be using our training grounds, West Central Events Center, and the Kindersley Composite School to better themselves and their knowledge in all aspects of firefighting.
The KFD Public Education team has been hard at work doing events at The Evergreens living complex, Caleb Village, and Dawnview Court. The team recently has had the PubEd trailer at each location to discuss some fire safety tips and best practices. We also had fire blankets made available to all residents of each building thanks to some generous sponsors in our community. Thank you to Candy Gordon, Better Together Kindersley, and Whitecap Resources for partnering with us to make our community safer!
With spring being in full swing, so has seeding for many local farmers in our area. Please be mindful of all the extra equipment that will be sharing the roadways such as air drills and sprayers. This equipment can be quite large and take up more than a lane on a highway and can only drive so fast. Be prepared to slow down and move over if you meet one on a road and wait until you are absolutely sure it is safe to pass before you do so.
