SJHL, MJHL Announces Joint Showcases in 24-25
The Saskatchewan Junior A Hockey League (SJHL) and the Manitoba Junior A Hockey League (MJHL) are proud to announce two joint showcase events for the 2024-25 season.
Both the SJHL and MJHL have never been stronger on or off the ice. Both leagues enjoy strong competitive balance, are extremely competitive at the national level, and have strong community involvement and support throughout.
In this time of much uncertainty and noise from the outside, we feel confident that we are working well with and for our players, our most important members, to showcase their talents, and to help them move on to the levels of hockey they aspire to. These showcases are investments toward that end goal.
The first event will take place in early November 2024 in Saskatchewan and will act as an elite identification camp for the upcoming 2024 World Junior A Challenge (WJAC). Please stay tuned for further details to follow.
The second event will be the annual MJHL – SJHL Showcase which will be held in Winnipeg at the end of January 2025. The annual Showcase welcomes 60 elite players from each league where 3 teams from each league will be formed to compete against each other during the event. One team will consist of players 18 and under, while the other two teams will consist of players 20 and under.
Kevin Saurette, MJHL Commissioner stated, “The MJHL is excited to continue to grow our partnership with the SJHL for the benefit of all involved. These events will give elite athletes from each league an incredible opportunity to showcase their skills and abilities in a high-performance environment in front of scouts from all higher levels of hockey.”
These events will be heavily attended by NHL, NCAA, Major Junior and University Programs from across North America and these events will be another important step for MJHL & SJHL athletes in attracting the attention of the many scouts / coaches that will be in attendance.
“We look forward to continuing to build on the success of joint events with the MJHL. We are very pleased to be able to provide these collaborative opportunities for our elite players ” shared SJHL Commissioner, Kyle McIntyre.
