Broncos Hire New Head Coach & GM

The Humboldt Broncos are proud to announce the hiring of Brayden Klimosko as the next Head Coach and GM, effective immediately.

Klimosko is no stranger to the roots of the community and the organization. Born and raised in Humboldt, his skates hit the ice at the Elgar Petersen Arena as a youngster and eventually played for the Broncos for three full seasons from 2005-2008 winning two SJHL Championships and one National Championship.

“It’s something I always dreamed of. It’s really exciting to now coach the team I grew up watching and played for. It’s a special moment for me and my family. To get to be around my friends and family again and coaching the Broncos is a dream come true,” said Klimosko.

Klimosko’s coaching journey also started in Humboldt with three seasons as the Assistant Coach of the Broncos from 2013-16. He was then hired as the Head Coach of the Battlefords North Stars in 2018 where he built a resume as one of the most highly successful and highly regarded coaches in the SJHL. Klimosko would win two more SJHL Championships with the North Stars and was named the SJHL Coach of the Year three times.

“The Humboldt Broncos organization are thrilled that we have hired Brayden as the Head Coach and GM. There were many worthy applicants, and after looking at each one at different angles, no one stood out more than Brayden to represent our logo. We have every belief that he will produce an exceptional team that our community will love to watch and cheer for on the ice. Along with Assistant Coach, Carter Hansen, we look forward to the upcoming season,” said Broncos President, Amanda Schlachter.

Klimosko, now entering his 7th season as an SJHL Head Coach, will take over the role departed by Scott Barney, and a team that was one goal away from the SJHL Finals.

“We have a great core group of guys coming back to Humboldt and I think we can compete with anyone in the league. I am looking forward to building a relationship with the players and demonstrating who I am as a coach and a person so that the transition from Scott to myself is seamless in September,” added Klimosko

The Humboldt Broncos would like to welcome back Brayden and his family to the Broncos organization and the community of Humboldt.
