View “Passing” at the Kerrobert Courtroom Gallery
There is a new show at the Kerrobert Courtroom Gallery! Taking place on August 30 until October 28, 2024, visitors can experience “Passing.”
“This joint exhibition explores the themes of progression, decay, and the cycle of life
from two different perspectives.
The world around us is continuously shifting, and the patina left by what has been and is
fading calls us to reflect. On what has come before, our own present time and space
that we are passing through, and what might yet be to come.
Places once decadent or simple, full of life and industry that are now just places of
memory, hidden stories and time gone by. These spaces confront us; they ignite our
imaginations, our memories, and beckon us to consider our own short time and impact
on the world before we too come to our end, and fade like all the rest into the passing
annals of time.
Joanne’s acrylic paintings, rich in detail and realism, depict scenes of abandonment and
decay. Despite their precise representation, they evoke deep feelings, offering a view
from the endpoint outward. In contrast, Olivia’s acrylic works representing the original
state of now repurposed quilt blocks, though they may appear simple, are rich in
meaning and construction, offering a view from beginning and moving outward. Both
artists are capturing places in motion within the endless cycle of life,” the gallery and artists shared.
The opening reception will take place on August 30 at 7 pm, artists will be in attendance.
