Was Friday the 13th Unlucky for the Klippers?

Hmmm.  Lets see.  Is Friday the 13th lucky? Or unlucky?  For the contest between the Kindersley Jr. Klippers and the visiting Battleford Northstars, it proved to be very unlucky.  First the ice plant wasn’t keeping up as the maintenance crew were making ice on the InterPipeline Arena and it was a detriment to the Co-op ice as it wasn’t freezing.  Second, starting Klipper goaltender Cody Jaman suffered an ankle strain with about 5 minutes left in the first period.  With the ice situation getting worse, the officials deemed it necessary to call the game after the 2nd period.  Fortunately, the ice problem cleared up overnight and everything was back to normal for Saturday.  With having 2 rinks running at different temperatures, the rink staff had to do a balancing act with the new plant.  No worries as all is well.

The Jrs. lost this game by a score of 3 to 1 with Cam Perlinger potting the lone Klipper goal.  This was a good test for all the players who lined up against a tough and quick Battleford team.  These 2 teams have a long history and rivalry and they square off again Friday the 20th as they start the regular season up in Battleford and then they return to the confines of the InterPipeline Arena for their home opener to face the Northstars again in the traditional Goose Festival game on Saturday the 21st.  Puck drop is at 6:00 pm.
