114 Years of Keeping Kindersley Safe
Well, October 3rd, 2024 is a very important day for the Kindersley RCMP. They finally moved into their new building and had a grand opening!
Unfortunately, projects with the Federal government can seem to move at a snail’s pace and that is what happened here but today WAS that day. Now that the new facility is open, the officers and support staff have a brand new building to work from.
The RCMP have had a presence in Kindersley since 1910 and things sure have changed in those past 114 years. Bigger areas to cover, more modern equipment at their disposal and unfortunately, more crimes to police.
The day started promptly at 10:00 am with some members of the detachment marching in their red serge uniforms from the service road to the flagpole, where a new Canadian flag was flown. About 100 people cheered as Oh Canada was played on a trumpet.
The ceremonies were brief as the weather did not fully cooperate and the temperature was about 5 degrees and cloudy skies prevailed.
Afterwards, there was a lunch provided and tours of the new facility. With such a long line and time constraints, this author did not have the time to get in and have a look. Following the tour, there was a bbq burger lunch complete with salads, chips and drinks. There were some former RCMP members in attendance as well as MLA Ken Francis.
The citizens of Kindersley have an RCMP detachment to be proud of. These dedicated men and women who help keep us safe have the tools available to them. They spoke about how having the support of this community helps them in what they do best.
