Klippers VS Estevan
And another barn burner at the rink! The visiting Estevan Bruins gave the Jr. Klippers a very good test and happy to say, we passed, although it took 5 skaters in a shoot-out to finalize the win. Kindersley was never in the lead all night but as soon as Estevan scored, we put the effort into an extra gear and scored on them. In fact the Klippers put 52 shots at Estevan goalie Kyle Kelsey who played well. Even during the 2 man advantages we had, we still couldn’t put one by him. This writer thought the Klips passed the puck WAY too much on the man advantages and were looking for the “perfect” shot. I get it but sometimes you just need to throw the puck at the net and see what happens. Passing is great but it can take up too much time off the clock. I digress. I’m not playing the game and obviously I would make different decisions.
Brett O’Halloran stopped 30 of 33 shots but the real hero of the night was Big E (Ethan Hilbig) who was the 5th shoot-out skater. His forehand to backhand and back to a forehand shot fooled the goalie who was solid until then. Kyle Smith also potted his 1st goal of the year and displayed an enthusiasm not seen in a long while. 612 was the announced attendance and that was big improvement from Wednesdays game against Notre Dame who will be here on Sunday, October 20th with a start time of 4:00 pm and also on Monday, October 21st starting at 12 noon. This early game should be packed and sold out as the Kindersley students will be in the building. It is normally a very loud affair as they get right into it.
Saturday the 12th of October is the 2nd of two games against Estevan. Puck drops at 7:30 at the Inter Pipeline Arena at the WCEC.
