Klippers Vs Estevan Game 2
The old saying “Well, that didn’t go as planned” seemed to be in the cards for the Klippers on Saturday. It was the 2nd of 2 games and we just didn’t really get it together until the 3rd period but it was a case of to little, to late. The effort was there but it things didn’t quite go the Klips way. Passes not staying on the stick, bad bounces, etc. Back-up Jrs. goalie Nathan Claydon played well but the boys in front couldn’t beat Kyle Kelsey in the Bruins goal, even peppering him with 47 shots. Dawson Karol scored in the 3rd and that seemed to ignite the Klippers but it wasn’t quite enough. An empty net goal gave the Estevan Bruins a 4 to 2 final.
Even with a 7 to 2 advantage in penalties it seemed like there was again too much passing the puck as they were looking for the perfect shot on goal. Not a bad strategy but it tends to take too much time off the clock and therefore giving you fewer chances and that’s compounded if you lose control of the puck and that is paramount on any power play. However, it is early in the season and this writer know the Klippers will get their game together and produce more wins. They are to good not to win more. The next game is on Friday the 18th up in Melfort to take on the Mustangs. Next home games are Sunday the 20th at 4:00 pm and then on Monday the 21st at 12 noon against the Notre Dame Hounds. These 2 home games are normally unusually loud, so maybe pack some earplugs? Just saying.
