Kindersley Prepares to Elect New Mayor and Council: Don’t Forget to Vote!
The Town of Kindersley is gearing up for an important election to select its new Mayor and six Councillors. This election will set the leadership team for the town, with candidates eager to make a difference in the community.
Advanced Polling is on November 4, 2024 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Town of Kindersley Administration Office (106 – 5th Avenue East). Election Day will take place on November 13, 2024 from 9:00am to 8:00pm at the Norman Ritchie Community Centre (NRCC) (1023 – 1st Street West)
Voting is not just a civic duty; it’s a chance to have your say in the future of Kindersley. Voter turnout has been modest in recent years, with 1,351 voters casting ballots in 2016, compared to 1,141 in 2012. Let’s make this year count by increasing election participation.
Candidates on the Ballot
On voting day, residents will see two candidates running for Mayor and eight for the Councillor positions:

Who Can Vote?
Eligible voters must:
Be a Canadian citizen;
Be the full age of 18 years or will attain full age of 18 years on or before Election Day.
Have not already voted at this election.
On the day of the Election:
Have resided for at least three consecutive months immediately preceding the day of the election in or on land now in the Town of Kindersley;
Or have been the owner for at least three consecutive months immediately preceding the day of the election of assessable land situated in the municipality or land now in the municipality;
Have resided in Saskatchewan for at least six consecutive months immediately preceding the day of the election.
How to Vote?
All eligible voters having presented proper identification, shall complete complete a voter’s registration form obtained from the election official at the polling place, and which is recorded by the election official in the poll book.
The names of the candidates for Mayor and Council are listed on the ballots in alphabetical order by last name.
Voters may vote for only one candidate for Mayor, and not more than six Councillors.
Voters indicate their vote by making a distinct “X” in the space beside the candidate’s name. The ballot is secret.
Instructions on how to vote are posted at all polling stations.
Required Identification:
Legislation requires that all voters must present valid identification prior to receiving their ballot. Photo identification is the easiest, and is ID that is government-issued, valid and has your photo, name and address. If your identification does not meet these criteria it will not be recognized as an acceptable form of photo identification. Two pieces of non-photo identification is also permitted if you don’t have photo identification and are unable to obtain photo-ID before Election Day, but both must contain your name and at least one contains your address.
