Klippers vs. Melfort

It’s proven to be the beginning of a stormy weekend with up to eight inches of snow predicted for Kindersley and the visiting Melfort Mustangs brought their own storm to town with them. Final score was Melfort 4 and Kindersley 3.

It started out poorly when Melfort potted a short-handed goal but Big ‘E’ Ethan Hilbig got it back quickly with a seeing-eye one-timer from the right circle. The Klips had the lead early into the 2nd period on two goals by Dawson Karol. However, the Mustangs came back with two of their own. No scoring in the 3rd but it wasn’t for a lack of effort by the hometown heroes. They played hard until the final whistle.

The Melfort Mustangs are the reigning champs in the SJHL and they showed it. Forward Danton Cox played with Klippers for half of last season before being traded to Melfort with his older brother Logan. So, the question for today is; how will the game go on Saturday?

Come on down to the InterPipeline Arena at the WCEC and cheer on the boys in green and blue. Puck drop is at 7:30. 654 fans were out for game 1. Let’s double it for game 2! And the snow? We here in Saskatchewan are a hardy bunch and won’t be bothered by something as trying as snow.
