Klippers vs. Melville

Wow. This game definitely did not go as expected. Melville won by a score of 5 to 2 but it wasn’t so much the score, as the the way the flow of the game went.

The first period was end to end action with both teams having scoring chances and a hint of chippiness.

The 2nd period was a different story, however. Melville capitalized on the Klips defensive breakdowns and scored 2 short handed goals. That seemed to deflate the team and the crowd. Melville built up a 4 to 0 lead before the Klippers clawed back 2 goals in the 3rd period. However, Jaden Iyogun of the Millionaires added the 2nd of his 2 goals in the 3rd to nail the lid shut on the game.

I’m not sure what happened. The Klippers seemed to lose their steam in the 2nd with the defensive breakdowns and sometimes that can make it harder to get your head back into the game and be effective. They did in the 3rd but just a little too late.

The Klippers were tied with 5 teams in the standings going into the game tonight. However, Melville being 1 of those teams, now is 2 points ahead of us.

Let’s get on the band wagon for the Saturday rematch at the WCEC and cheer on the Kindersley Jr. Klippers.  Puck drop is at its usual time of 7:30.
