Delisle & District Fire Department Share News of Break In
Sadly, in December the Delisle & District Fire Department shared the news about a break-in. Below is a message from the Department. If you have any information that could help, please reach out to Chief Mike Given, or the RCMP.
“You can imagine our profound disappointment today when we learned that our fire hall in Pike Lake had been broken into. Among the items stolen are the hall’s “Jaws of Life.”
*It’s important to note that we are still able to respond to any extrication-related calls in our coverage area as we also have these life-saving tools based out of our Delisle Hall.*
The thieves even smashed the hall’s Dalmation piggy bank. Chief Mike Given has been in touch with the police and the investigation into the break-in is ongoing.
Anyone who may have seen or heard anything regarding this theft is asked to contact either Chief Mike Given, or the RCMP, directly.
Sadly, We are the second volunteer fire department in Saskatchewan to have suffered a break-in in as many weeks.
Thieves stole some $3,000 worth of extrication tools and batteries from the Grant Fire Rescue – RM 372 on December 16th.”
Later on, the Department shared Trans-Care Rescue Ltd. of Langham, Sask., generously provided the Pike Lake fire hall with loaner tools – including a “Jaws” combi-tool – to use until replacements can be obtained.
Please also note that while the Department is very grateful for the outpouring of love and support following the break-in there are not currently holding any fundraisers.
“Until we get more information from our insurance providers, we will not know our needs. We are not organizing any fundraisers in the short term.
We will be doing our usual bottle drive after Easter (end of April), and are always accepting bottles and cans at the Pike Lake fire hall.
That being said, we are of course grateful for any donations. If you would like to donate at any time, you can make donations through the Town of Delisle, via etransfer to ddvffa@gmail.com, or by mail to Box 296, Delisle, SK S0L 0P0. For a tax receipt we will need to know your full name and address.”
