“I’ll Take -50 Over +30 Any Day”
Today we are in a deep freeze, tomorrow we aren’t, today we are, tomorrow we aren’t, this weather has been unpredictable, but the winter blues got a little brighter during this episode of The Kev and The Rev Show when Kevin and Rev. Piotr joked about surviving the snowy season with sanity intact.
Kevin kicked things off by saying how the white stuff that makes every Canadian driver clutch the steering wheel a little tighter.
Piotr explained his personal strategy for driving in winter: “When I lived in Calgary, Ottawa, and northern Alberta, I’d stay home for the first 72 hours of snowfall. That’s when summer drivers meet the snowbanks!” He then shared a stat that says more accidents occur in those first snowy hours than during the previous six months combined. Winter warriors, take note.
Speaking of snowfall, Piotr, who’s no stranger to Polish winters, chimed in with stories of friends astonished by Saskatchewan’s extreme wind chills. What’s the secret to staying warm he tells them? “Just add three more layers!” It turns out, cold weather isn’t all bad for him. In fact, he made a shocking confession: “I’ll take -50 over +30 any day.”
Cue Kevin’s horrified response. “We’re not going to get along anymore.”
But Piotr tried to make him see the benefits of subzero temperatures. “It’s practical! You can always put on another sweater. In the summer, there’s only so much you can take off before you get arrested!”
Kevin conceded the point with a laugh but stood his ground. “I prefer +30. You don’t have to shovel +30!”
Despite their different stance winter, Kevin and Piotr tipped their hats to Kindersley’s hardworking snow shoveling entrepreneurs, appreciating their affordable services. Whether it’s a lack of time or illness, the Rev expressed gratitude for those who lighten the load—literally.
Kevin try to see the positive in winter weather. “It’s necessary. We need the moisture for spring.” Still, they both agreed: winter is a “necessary evil.”
Kevin wrapped up the show with one bit of advice: “Stay warm.” Wise words indeed, because whether we are dodging snowbanks or braving the chill, winter isn’t going anywhere—at least not until spring makes a heroic comeback.
