Klippers vs. Humboldt
Now this was a very physical game. So physical in fact, that when 2 players were body checked into the boards, a piece of the plexiglass-glass shattered and stopped the game for approx 25 minutes. The rink crew did a masterful job job of cleaning up the mess, replacing the panel of plexiglass-glass and getting the ice surface ready for play again.
All this happened with 11:24 left in the first period and the visiting Humboldt Broncos were ahead 2 to 0. They were playing head and shoulders above their previous visits to Kindersley. They had acquired goalie Dazza Mitchell from the Weyburn Red Wings and he has given them a dose of confidence and they now are 4 points ahead of the Klippers and tied with Battleford for top spot in our Nutrien Division.
Final score was Humboldt 3 and Kindersley Klippers 1 before a crowd announced at 556. Both teams battled hard but in the end, it was another bitter defeat. Being in the 8th and final play-off spot is not very comforting. The teams below you need to be kept there and winning will certainly help that.
The return match in Humboldt on Saturday night should be interesting as fist-a-cuffs and hard checking are sure to happen when 2 teams of this strength collide and know the stakes involved. Go Klippers Go!
