
Justen Close Makes ECHL All-Rookie Team for 2024-25
The ECHL has announced its 2024-25 All-Rookie Team, and Kindersley’s Justen Close, goaltender for the Jacksonville Icemen, has been selected to play.
In 29 appearances, Close holds a 16-10-2 record, boasting a stellar 2.32 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage. His three shutouts are tied for fourth among rookie goaltenders.
The All-Rookie Team was selected through voting by ECHL coaches, broadcasters, media relations directors, and media members, each choosing one goaltender, two defensemen, and three forwards.

Close’s inclusion puts him in strong company. Since the All-Rookie Team was introduced in 2000-01, 23 players have advanced to the NHL, including names like Philipp Grubauer, Vitek Vanecek, and David Desharnais.
