Obituaries: Donna Marie (May) Stasiuk

Donna Marie May was born on January 25, 1939, to Clare and Ruth May of Mantario, Saskatchewan.  Donna’s younger years consisted of taking care of her five younger siblings, helping with various chores and family businesses.  Donna completed her schooling in Mantario and Eatonia.  She spent a short time inn Calgary working at Montreal Trust.

Donna met Harry Stasiuk, a young farmer from Marengo, they were married October 25, 1958.  The first son to be born was Craig in 1960, followed by Larry in 1963 and finally Corey in 1969.  Together they raised their boys and worked hard to build a successful farm.  For many years Donna trucked the grain and was Harry’s “hired man”.  Donna made raising a family and balancing being a farm wife look easy.

Donna took great pride in her family.  She was very excited when grandchildren entered the picture.  You could also find her in the kitchen cooking a fantastic meal, canning, baking pies, crocheting, enjoying coffee with friends, and in her garden.  She was an avid curler and when the curling was on television – you knew to be quiet so she could watch.

Later in life, Donna and Harry enjoyed trips in the winter to Yuma AZ and an Alaskan cruise.  They also enjoyed playing card games with friends and neighbors.

After Harry passed, Donna moved from Marengo into Kindersley.  She spent her years in a condo, a move to Caleb and then to the Kindersley Manor this past February where she peacefully passed away on April 30, 2025.

Donna will be remembered by her sons; Craig (Dawn), Larry (Jamie), and Corey (Linda).  Her Grandchildren; Rachelle (Kyle) Meers, Curtis (Blair Gilmour) Stasiuk, and Cassidy Stasiuk.  Great-grandchildren; Nora and Ruby Meers.  Sisters; Judy (Les) Weir, Joanne (Ray) Schlosser, Sharon May, and brother Rob (Linda) May.  Sister-In-Laws; Joan May, Olga Ganser, Evangeline Weisbrod, and Helen Solverson – as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Donna is predeceased by her husband (of 51 years) Harry, her brother Lawrence May, her parents Clare and Ruth May, brothers-In-Law; Norbert Ganser, Ewalt Weisbrod, and Jack Solverson.

Donna’s family extends a warm thank you to all the staff at Caleb Village, Kindersley SK, Jubilee Lodge in Eston SK, Kindersley Hospital and Manor for all their kindness and care.

“The Garden of Promise”

There is a place, I have been told,

Beyond an open gate

All have been invited

Where Friends and loved ones wait.

     It holds eternal promise

Of everlasting peace

No pain or sorrow ever comes

And teardrops there have ceased.

    Abundant life is evident

Constant, fresh and new

A garden of provision

With eternity in view.

    The promise is awaiting

A place we can abide

Fulfilled for all who answer

The call to come inside.
