The Kev and the Rev Show: The Bear Episode
In the latest episode of Kev and the Rev, the duo dives into everyone’s favourite topic this time of year: summer plans. From bear spray to beach gazebos, it’s clear that these two have very different approaches to embracing the great outdoors.
Rev kicks things off with his signature greeting, before Kev jumps in with talk of camping in the mountains. But not just any camping. We’re talking real camping. Tents. Air mattresses. Bear spray. Kev’s ready to rough it. Rev? Not so much.
“I quit tenting in 2006,” he admits, recounting his Ontario camping days before Alberta’s bear population changed his vacation strategy. Now, Rev proudly identifies as a glamper, opting for hotels over hammocks. “Glamping. I don’t even have a camper. I go to a hotel,” he says, earning a chuckle from Kevin.
Despite their differences in camping comfort levels, both hosts agree on the importance of getting outside — whether that’s hiking, horseback riding (Piotr still does it year-round), or just enjoying local gems like the town reservoir and walking trails.
They share fondness for local day trips, with Piotr lamenting the closure of The Big-10-4 in Leader (“Where are the burgers?!”) and Kev offering excitement for the new 290 Press Café!
And don’t worry — golf gets its moment too. Kevin, shocked Piotr doesn’t golf, which, the Rev counters with the classic: “doesn’t golf stand for a good walk, spoiled?” The Rev. Piotr doesn’t play golf anymore, and honestly, seems just fine with that.
Whether you’re pitching a tent or booking a hotel, hiking a trail or sipping coffee downtown, Kev and the Rev agree: summer is about recharging. “If you want to, everyone can find something to do,” Rev reflects. And with the warm weather rolling in, their advice is simple:
“Get out there and have fun.”
