“Baptism by Singing”
“Qui cantat bene bis orat” – “Who sings well, prays twice” (Lat.) So goes the quote commonly attributed to St. Augustine. While many of us sing, perhaps not all sing well Somehow, I doubt the good Lord is keeping the score😉.
Not many of us can claim to have the voices of Pavarotti or Sarah Brightman. What we can claim however is that we answer God’s call to minister to all of God’s creation, in various places and various circumstances.
As part of our ministry, several churches from The Kindersley an Area Ministerial Association through their pastors, lay leaders and worship teams provide weekly worship services and hymn sings at the Heritage Manor and the Caleb Village.
To make that ministry more effective and less strenuous on our vocal cords, the Ministerial Association decided to upgrade part of the sound system at both locations. Using portion of the money from our annual voluntary dues that we keep in the “common purse” we purchased at Lela’s Music two microphones and two microphone stands. On Sunday, May 18th the microphones were brought to both places and underwent “baptism by singing.”
Member churches of the Ministerial Association are present in many aspects of the community’s life. Services at Caleb Village and Heritage Manor are but two examples of that presence. Next time you visit at either of those places and hear some singing – think of us😊.
With blessings
