Mural at Shaunavon Hospital Brings Sense of Comfort to Residents
A Saskatchewan-inspired acreage scene now graces a wall at Shaunavon Hospital and Care Centre thanks to artist Andrew Robertson of Robertson Arts.
“I wanted to create a piece that would bring a sense of comfort to the residents of long-term care,” Robertson said of his mural. “Many of them come from farming backgrounds… it felt right that they should see something that reminds them of home in their day-to-day environment.
The idea to put a mural in the home came from Pamela Bahnuick, a recreation staff member at the home who is also a councillor for the Town of Shaunavon. After Robertson attended a town council meeting to talk about South West Mural Fest, Bahnuick felt a mural would fit at the care home.
