Klippers Hire Ben Marshall and Jayden Villafane

The Iron Horse Kindersley Klippers have shared the hiring of Ben Marshall and Jayden Villafane.

Ben Marshall joins Kindersley after spending the past two years in the KIJHL with the Sicamous Eagles. Prior to that, he worked for a year in the professional hockey ranks with the Vienna Capitals in Austria. Originally from Georgetown, ON, Ben got into coaching because of his dad. He loves working with players and watching them develop on and off the ice.

Ben says, “I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to work with such a great organization like the Kindersley Klippers and very excited to work with Clayton this upcoming season.”

Coach Jardine stated, “Throughout the process I kept coming back to Ben because of his passion and excitement for the game of hockey. He lives and breathes the game, and everyone I talked to about Ben kept mentioning the same thing. His passion is in player development, positive reinforcement, and analytics. I think Ben will bring some new ideas to the organization and we can find different ways to improve the club. I am looking forward to working with Ben on a day-to-day basis and learning from his values and beliefs in the game.”

Jayden Villafane worked last year for the Port Alberni Bombers in the VIJHL, which is also his hometown. He completed his education at Vancouver Island University and has since been working in hockey and a sports injury clinic in the Port Alberni area. Jayden chose to work in hockey because of his lifelong passion for the game, despite having his playing career cut short due to injury. He became an Athletic Therapist because of that experience and now takes pride in preventing injuries and helping athletes rehab back to 100%.

Villafane mentioned, “The Klippers organization is one that prides itself on the development of its players and staff and one that I knew would be a great fit for me. I am excited to get out to Kindersley and be a part of such a highly regarded organization and contribute to the future success of the Klippers.”

Jardine said, “We chose Jayden for a lot of different reasons, but the thing that stood out to me was his passion for the players. He views his job on a day-to-day basis as making sure every single player has what they need to be at the top of their game. Everyone I spoke to about Jayden raved about his ability to connect with players and put the team and individual first. His past employers spoke to his character and commitment to hard work, and I couldn’t be more excited to add Jayden to the group.”

Jardine went on to say, “Completing the staff is exciting for the whole organization. It was a great process to go through and find the right individuals for the job, and I am confident in the choices. We are a development league, and we want to see our players ready for the next level. Both Jayden and Ben understand that. Our players are going to continue to develop at a high level on and off the ice through video, workouts, rehab, community involvement, and competitive gameplay. We have come a long way in two years as a program, but I am excited to see where we can go from here.”
