CURLSASK Announces Transition Away from Triples Division for 2025–2026 Season
CURLSASK is announcing the removal of the Triples division from provincial play beginning in
the 2025-2026 season. This change reflects their ongoing efforts to strengthen the development
pathway for youth curlers and better align their programs with the U18 and high-performance
competition formats.
Starting next season, CURLSASK will be focusing on the Rotating 4s format as the
recommended entry point for curlers transitioning out of youth programming and into
competitive play. After reviewing feedback from coaches, athletes, and officials, as well as
observing strong success with the Rotating 4s format at their most recent provincial events, they
feel confident that this change will better prepare young athletes for the structure and
strategy of traditional four-person curling.
“Transitioning to having Rotating 4’s as the focus discipline for youth curling in the province will
give kids the opportunity to develop skills and become well rounded athletes, to allow for a
smooth transition into other competitive or non-competitive stages as they progress.” said
Savanna Taylor, CURLSASK Events Coordinator. “Having our youth athletes focus on curling
that is flexible and easy to learn but still translates well to other ages and stages will ensure that
we have successful athletes for years to come.”
“We believe this transition better aligns with the long-term pathway of a curler in
Saskatchewan,” said Steve Turner, CURLSASK Executive Director. “We’re excited to see the
Rotating 4s format continue to grow, and we’re confident it will help young athletes build the
skills and confidence needed to progress to higher levels of the game.”
CURLSASK recognizes that some existing Triples teams may face challenges in finding a fourth
player. While teams are encouraged to compete with four athletes, three-player teams will be
permitted during this transition period to ensure accessibility and participation remain strong.
In addition, the Rotating 4s format has been confirmed as the official youth curling format for
the 2026 Saskatchewan Winter Games, reinforcing this direction across youth competition in
the province.
They thank the athletes, coaches, and families for their flexibility and commitment as they evolve
to best support the future of curling in Saskatchewan.
