Bull-a-rama Delivers in Eston
The Eston Rodeo Committee hosted its 4th Annual Bull-a-rama on June 13, and you could feel the excitement in the area!
With 37 bull riders from across Canada, including Saskatchewan, Alberta, B.C., and Quebec, as well as international contenders from Brazil and Australia, the event delivered a great night of top-tier competition and it was the rookie Brody Bandurka, who clinched the win with an impressive 85-point ride in the short go round.
Local stock contractors brought some of the toughest and most exciting bulls to the arena. Among them were CS Bucking Bulls from Kyle, Dakota Buttar Bucking Bulls from Eatonia, and Hartman Cattle Company from Lancer.
In addition to the professional-level riders, the event also featured steer riding and novice bull riding categories, giving some local youth the opportunity to showcase their skills and passion in front of a hometown crowd.
This year’s Bull-a-rama talent was top tier–and by keeping it priced low ($30 per adult, $10 per student, and free admission for kids six and under), it gave everyone a chance to come down and check it out! The tickets also included a live music cabaret featuring Lisa Moen, beer gardens, a BBQ, and a range of food trucks, making it a night of fun for all ages.
What you might not know, is Eston’s Bull-a-rama fits into a growing trend of high-caliber bull riding events popping up across the country, many of which are sanctioned by Bull Riders Canada (BRC). Founded in 2013, BRC is the largest Canadian-owned and operated bull riding organization and is dedicated to growing the sport at a grassroots level. With more than 45 events scheduled across Western Canada in 2024, BRC supports committees like Eston’s by offering structure, legitimacy, and exposure through a national points system. Their finals, held in Sylvan Lake, Alberta, offer a substantial prize purse and the chance for riders to solidify their place among Canada’s elite.
For communities like Eston, working alongside Bull Riders Canada provides not only access to top-tier competitors and stock but also the opportunity to build the event to new heights. It’s a mutually beneficial partnership—BRC thrives on supporting local events, and local events benefit from BRC’s promotional reach and professional standards.
The goal now is to keep building. The Eston Rodeo Committee hopes to bring in more support and sponsors for future events and continue to offer a high level of competition while keeping it fun and affordable for the community.
