Delisle & District Fire Department Respond to Early Morning MVC

Call Report – August 5 (Morning)

At 1:23 AM, Delisle Fire was paged for a motor vehicle collision at the east entrance to Delisle and Highway 7.

Upon arrival at the hall, crews quickly transferred rescue equipment from Unit 1 to Unit 10, as Unit 1 was out of service due to a flat tire sustained the previous evening. Once the transfer was complete, Unit 10 responded with two members, and Command responded with one member. A fourth member arrived on scene in their personal vehicle.

On scene, crews found two individuals from one vehicle who did not require medical assistance. In a second vehicle located in the ditch, two occupants were trapped. The driver was safely removed without tools. The Jaws of Life were used to extricate the passenger. Both individuals were transported to Saskatoon by Medavie Health Services.

Once the patients were transferred and the scene cleaned up, Unit 10 and the personal vehicle were released. Command remained on scene awaiting the arrival of two tow trucks.

As the tow trucks were nearly ready to leave, a separate vehicle was observed driving on the wrong side of the highway, toward the scene. RCMP on site stopped the vehicle and addressed the situation. After the tow trucks departed, RCMP assisted the driver in safely re-entering the correct lane to continue traveling.

Crews were back in service and returned to bed at 4:10 AM.
