Our Stay At Temple Gardens Hotel & Spa
While visiting Moose Jaw, Melissa and I stayed at the famous Temple Gardens Hotel & Spa and what a treat that was! We had heard about it, but this was our first time visiting there.
This hotel has a rich history as well. It was designed and built in 1921 by Cal and Trudie Temple and was fashioned on a California architectural style that included a dance hall. This was a popular entertainment venue, even earning the nickname “The Home of Rock and Roll in Canada.” However, the original dance hall was demolished in 1978. The hotel and spa, along with the Temple Gardens Centre (a sports arena), continue to carry on the Temple Gardens name, honouring the legacy of the original dance hall.
The Temple Gardens Mineral Spa opened in 1993, drawing geothermal waters from ancient sea beds 1,350 meters below the surface. These waters, discovered accidentally in 1910 while drilling for oil, are heated by the Earth’s core and travel to the spa under their own pressure. This spa is now a popular attraction, offering both indoor and outdoor mineral pools, and is part of the Temple Gardens Hotel & Spa complex.
This hotel also shares a parking garage with the casino directly across the street, so access is easy!
We found the hotel staff very friendly and helpful. The room was older but clean, and the restaurant offered an amazing menu. Being in the heart of downtown, it is an easy walk to visit the many stores and shops.
The pool area is on the fourth floor and features an outdoor pool. The spa is also there, next to a small but well-stocked cafeteria, and they featured coffee by Starbucks!
It’s a very busy place, and we met friendly people from all over Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. There are meeting rooms as well if you are looking to book a presentation for your company.
Worth it? Absolutely!
