Netherhill’s very own, Roxana Spicer continues to captivate readers worldwide with her mother’s story.
The new paperback edition hit bookstores and rolled out online August 26, featuring updated cover artwork proudly highlighting some impressive award seals: a spot on the Globe and Mail’s Top 100 Books of 2024 and recognition as a finalist in the Rakuten Kobo National Literary Awards 2025 for Best Emerging Writer.

Readers can also enjoy The Traitor’s Daughter’s audiobook, which has been praised for its authenticity and Roxana’s portrayal of her mother’s Russian accent. “The audiobook continues to win critical acclaim online from people across the globe. But the biggest thrill for me is hearing from people in Kindersley and Netherhill who knew Mom and think I did a very credible job of capturing her Russian accent and her persona. There is nothing better than high praise from the hometown crowd.”

To celebrate the paperback release, Roxana will appear on Finding Your Bliss on Zoomer Radio for a one-hour interview on August 30, featuring clips from the audiobook as well as film clips of her mom.

But this isn’t all, looking beyond Canada, Roxana’s novel is catching international attention. The international Frankfurt Book Festival approaches in October with the most surprising country to make the first offer to buy the translation rights is–can you guess? Turkey! With it’s 80 million population! That’s one heck of a lot of readers!
