LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION! Taking Place in Rosetown!
LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION! is a combined acting and digital storytelling training and workshops taking place 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, in Rosetown, on Wednesday, October 22.
Students who participate in LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION! have the chance to either Play the Part or Tell the Story.
In the morning, some participants will receive acting and performance training by Saskatchewan Drama Association Consultant Michael Koops while other participants will be trained by film and video producer Layla Bautista in digital storytelling. In the afternoon, the two groups will combine for a workshop to create videos based on short scripts. The participants who were trained in acting will be the stars of the video while those trained in digital storytelling will be the directors, camera operators, and editors of the video. The videos will be featured on the Sun West website and social media.
LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION! is supported by the Recording Arts Institute of Saskatoon (RAIS) and is open to all Grades 9-12 Sun West students. To participate students must apply by October 14 and must have a reference from a teacher or adult community member. Sun West will coordinate travel with the parent/caregivers of selected students and with the teacher supervisors also attending the session. Depending on circumstances, some parent/caregivers may need to take their child to locations where teachers from other schools can pick them up. These arrangements will be made after the application deadline.
