Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Radiothon has become Saskatchewan’s largest annual maternal and pediatric fundraiser. The heartfelt and inspirational broadcast provides a glimpse into life within the walls of Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital, featuring stories from Saskatchewan children, families, and medical staff. You can make a difference in the lives of Saskatchewan children and families today and for generations to come. Let’s pull together for the health and future of our province!

Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Radiothon 2024’s fundraising focus is Little Hearts, Little Lungs.

Funds raised by the 2024 Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Radiothon will support essential cardiology and respirology equipment at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital. Your contributions will not only enhance clinical capabilities but will also provide hope and improve the quality of life for countless children facing health challenges and their families.

2024 Funds Raised Will:

  • Revolutionize cardiac care by enabling faster and more accurate diagnoses for young cardiac patients through advanced ultrasounds and specialized heart tests, ensuring timely and effective treatment.
  • Transform respiratory health by providing cutting-edge tools for the diagnosis and management of various breathing disorders, including asthma, cystic fibrosis, sleep disorders, premature lung disorders, and congenital airway anomalies.

Those looking to donate are encouraged to do so in honour of a Miracle Story! One Miracle Story is local boy Kenji.

In November 2022, what was assumed to be an ear infection for Kenji from Kindersley, SK, quickly evolved into extreme ear pain and eye swelling. After eye exams and an MRI in March 2023, Kenji’s family was told he needed to be admitted to Saskatchewan’s Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital (JPCH). Kenji and his family arrived and soon learned he had tumours. He was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) the following day.

It has been a tough, lengthy journey for the nine-year-old, but his mom, Carmela, says the dedication and kindness from JPCH medical staff were instrumental in Kenji’s recovery. “Every step of the way, the medical team demonstrated an outstanding level of expertise and proficiency. They displayed not only their medical knowledge but also their incredible ability to provide emotional support to both my son and our entire blended family. During those challenging months, I knew Kenji was in the most capable hands,” Carmela said.

Kenji underwent chemotherapy treatment for 194 days. He’s still being closely monitored, visiting JPCH every eight weeks for checkup appointments, but he is happy to be back home in Kindersley with his family. “We are grateful he was able to receive his lifesaving treatment close to home in Saskatchewan. Kenji has been an inspiration to his family and everyone who supported him along his medical journey,” said Carmela.

“We are immensely proud of Kenji and the courageous spirit he embodies. Our family celebrates his achievements and continues to support him in every step of his bright future,” she continued. “Kenji’s health has flourished, and he radiates happiness, making it hard to believe he has journeyed through such a tough experience.”

A small scar on his chest serves as a badge of honour, reminding everyone of the strength and resilience he has shown throughout his health journey. Kenji has recently started Grade Four and loves playing soccer and basketball with friends, as well as learning and drawing. At a young age, he has learned to appreciate the little things in life, including time with family.
