Celebrating Small Business Week
BDC Small Business Week is a national celebration of Canadian entrepreneurs and their contribution to Canada’s economy. The Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) has been organizing Small Business Week since 1979. This year it runs from October 20-26, 2024, and we thought, what better way to celebrate then to chat with a local business owner!
“Being a local business in a small community means there’s a force behind everything we do. It’s about showing pride in our work and being accountable to our customers. It’s achieving what we accomplish and always striving to improve customer experience–start to finish. It’s about making our community a better place to live in. It’s about building real, honest relationships with our customers, and never compromising on our values. It’s what sets us apart as a company and brings us all together as a community. It’s what drives us to be active leaders in our community, not only through financial commitments but also through volunteerism. We call it integrity–our endless pursuit of excellence, every day, for every customer and our community. We are proud of who we are and what we represent. Every day.”
-Kyle Adamson, Integra Tire in Kindersley
“We “fell” into owning our own business almost 35 years ago! New to this area and with a young family we saw an opportunity to pursue a new venture and belong to a vibrant community. We have had the pleasure of giving back to many community initiatives and activities which in turn has provided us the opportunity to foster meaningful relationships. Although there have been challenges with significant changes in technology, customer base and need, and ever changing regulations, we have persevered. Along with our staff, we take pride in the “old fashioned” customer service we strive to provide. If you are thinking of becoming an entrepreneur, do it! But, be informed, take advice (sometimes with a grain of salt!) and never give up!”
