Hospital Parking Lot Officially “Opens”

Hip hip hooray! The Kindersley Hospital parking lot is finished being paved and inked with yellow lines.

August 21 was the day the ribbon-cutting ceremony officially opened the “brand new” parking lot, complete with accessible parking where the old grass island used to be.

Anika Becker welcomed everyone and said that there was such an overwhelming joy when the RM 290 stepped up and took on this project with no questions asked. There was SO much support, not just from the RM, but also from neighbouring RMs and Hutterite Colonies. We all have a stake in this facility, and those people came through in a big way. She thanked all in attendance, as well as those who made a contribution. This is the result of what happens when people and communities work together.

RM Reeve and Lionel Story also spoke about the importance of community and how something like this makes us all better appreciate what we have. He also mentioned that the RM is funding a person to cut the grass and keep up with the grounds and maintenance. Elaine Epp has been doing an outstanding job these past few years making and keeping the hospital and manor grounds looking their best. The Town of Kindersley also contributed financially, and also with a donation of material for the back portion of the parking lot.

There were many new parking spaces added to accommodate the many people who visit the clinic, hospital and manor on a daily basis.

After the ribbon cutting, we assembled for a piece of chocolate and white cake and some good old-fashioned shop talk.

Many, many thanks again go to Lionel Story and RM 290 for spearheading this most needed and important project. The job done was amazing and helps to make our facility top-notch.
