Assiniboia Temporarily Houses Red Wings

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Weyburn Red Wings have temporarily relocated to Assiniboia, a town southwest of Regina.

The move comes after two ammonia leaks in the ice plant chiller at Weyburn’s arena left their home ice unusable. With no immediate solution in sight, the team sought out an alternative venue.

Assiniboia stepped up to host the Red Wings, quickly making the necessary accommodations to provide the team with a temporary home.

“It’s Official. We are heading to Assiniboia to play. Huge thank you to Assiniboia for opening up your community and homes for us.

All Home Games Until Christmas Break Will Be In Assiniboia!

As soon as we have more information finalized it will be posted to our social media pages in regard to season tickets, gate admission etc.

We understand the inconveniences that are amongst all of us but are extremely grateful to the City of Weyburn for all safety precautions being followed. Thank you.

Thank you to Esterhazy for all the help to try to make this work. We have such great communities and support around the sport of hockey,” shared the Weyburn Red Wings
