Students create Super-Humans and battle villains to save the world in unique educational resource from AITC-SK

Agriculture in the Classroom Saskatchewan (AITC-SK) launches their most innovative teaching resource yet, that brings nutrition and food education to the next level for students.

Mission Super-Human is an educational classroom game like no other. In this unique learning game, students assume the role of scientists who are tasked with creating the ultimate Super-Human and defeating the villains that are taking over the world.

Grades 6 and 7 students are challenged to defeat a band of formidable adversaries, Mr. Slob. E. Mess, Dr. Broken Broadcast and Madam D. Ception, who want to control the world’s food supply and force people to eat unhealthily. The only way to defeat the villain is for students to arm themselves with knowledge of important nutrients, and skills in reading food labels, making healthy meal plans and seeing through marketing campaigns.

“This has been an incredibly fun project to work on,” says Sara Shymko, Executive Director of AITC-SK. “At the root of it, agriculture is about food. We believe it is important that young people have the knowledge, skills and confidence to make healthy food choices. And we’ve developed a unique way to capture student’s attention while meeting curricular outcomes for teachers.”

AITC-SK has already fulfilled 50 Mission: Super-Human orders, with the kits starting to make an appearance in classrooms across the province. Over the next three years it is expected that over 15,000 students will utilize this exceptional resource.
