Sr. Klippers VS Unity

By Kevin Martin

It seemed to everyone in attendance at the Co-op Arena on Saturday night that something was in the air. It was game 1 of a best of 3 series in round 1 of the SWHL play-offs, with the Unity Miners taking on our own Kindersley Senior Klippers. The game started out with a bang as right winger D Jay McGrath scored in the first 2 minutes! McGrath was a spark plug all game long as he punished Unity players with some thundering hits and was a general pest to them. He had several other good chances but the Unity goaltender was up to the challenge. The Klippers won the game by a score of 4 to 2. Defenceman Carson Grolla potted 2 goals and also was a force to be reckoned with.

Even though Shane Neigum was still out with a foot injury, the entire team played like a well oiled machine. Unity also played a strong game but our goalie was up to the task. Game 2 is scheduled for Unity on Friday, February 3rd.
