Helping Animals in Frigid Temperatures

In freezing temperatures, there may be animals in need of help. If you notice an animal in distress, please consider the following: 

• Consider bringing the animal inside for one night (or more) in a basement, a bathroom, a garage, etc.
• Provide daily feeding, as more calories are burned when an animal is cold
• Provide fresh water daily (adding a bit of sugar can raise the freezing temperature and add a few calories)
• Make an outdoor shelter (Styrofoam bins OR Plastic storage bins with removable lids, such as Rubbermaid™ bins.)
