The Poems of Cherry Grove Students to Appear in a National Publication

Fresh off doing very well at the Sun West School Division Student Art Contest, Cherry Grove School at Loreburn Colony students have now had their work selected to be published in a national publication.

Every year, Polar Expressions Publishing stages a national writing contest that all Canadian students between Kindergarten and Grade 12 are encouraged to enter. The contest has poetry and short story categories and along with cash prizes, it also publishes the student work in a national publication. In the first round of selections, work is selected to appear in nationally distributed soft-colour books and from these works first, second and third prize winners are selected for each grade. Click here for more information on the contest .

Six Cherry Grove students entered the contest in the poetry category and all six have been successful in having their work selected to appear in the national publication. The students are Carlene, Darren, Janet, Tanya and Waylon Entz and Annie Wurtz. Each of their poems will appear in the national publication in June. Click here to read their poems.

All six of the students’ poems are now under consideration for the prizes in the next phase of the contest. Best of luck to all of them and congratulations to them for their success so far.
