Obituaries: Viola Jean (McNaughton) Scheidt

1937 ~ 2022 (age 84)

With great sadness we announce the passing of Viola Jean Scheidt on March 5th, 2022. She was born Viola Jean McNaughton in Didsbury, Alberta on May 5th, 1937. Viola grew up on a farm west of Didsbury. As a young adult she moved to Edmonton to get her teaching degree, then obtained her Master’s in Education from the University of Alberta all while still teaching. She continued her teaching career until she met Arthur Scheidt and they married in January of 1974. Viola was excited to move to Luseland and return to the farming lifestyle.

Viola enjoyed travelling and learning about different cultures. Her many trips included a trip to Europe with a girlfriend, and many trips to Yellowstone, the Alberta Rockies, and a trip to Alaska in her and Arthur’s retirement. Viola also enjoyed music and the arts, she was proud to be a founding member of the Luseland Arts Club.

“Family, church, and community” was her life’s motto.

Viola was predeceased by her parents Roy & Annie McNaughton, her husband Arthur Scheidt, and a son Walter Scheidt. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Aaron & Diane Scheidt, along with her brothers Don McNaughton and Gordon McNaughton and numerous cousins.

There will be a Funeral Service held for Viola on Wednesday, March 16th, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. from Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Luseland, SK with Pastor Robert Grout officiating.

Viola will be laid to rest beside her husband Arthur in the Luseland Cemetery.
