What is Building and Strengthening Indigenous Supports?

Building and Strengthening Indigenous Supports (BASIS) is a strategic effort to engage and support the Indigenous population in Saskatchewan’s agriculture sector. The ministry’s agriculture program specialists were chosen to assist in carrying out the BASIS project as they are the one-stop-shop for Ministry of Agriculture programs and services. Specialists are guided and supported by the ministry’s senior Indigenous advisor and the provincial Indigenous engagement specialist, creating a dynamic team. The goal of this team is to reach out to the 74 First Nations and 12 Métis regions in Saskatchewan to raise awareness and identify opportunities with the ministry’s programs and services.
