Saskatchewan RCMP Respond to Two Fatal Collisions Friday Evening

On Friday, July 30th, 2021, at approximately 4 p.m., White Butte RCMP responded to a report of a fatal single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Highway 1 at the overpass just west of Regina, SK.

Passersby had attempted life-saving measures on the driver and sole occupant of the motorcycle, a 40-year-old male, but their efforts were unfortunately unsuccessful. The driver was declared deceased at the scene when paramedics arrived.

Initial investigation indicated that the motorcycle left the roadway, entered the west ditch and rolled.

The overpass was blocked to traffic for several hours as an RCMP Traffic Analyst and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service investigated and the scene was cleared.

In another incident at approximately the same time on Friday evening, Canora RCMP responded to a fatal single vehicle collision on a grid road just off of Highway 9 near Endeavour, SK.

Witnesses observed the vehicle in the ditch with smoke coming from it. The 60-year-old male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was removed and CPR was attempted until paramedics arrived.

Unfortunately, the driver was declared deceased at the scene.

An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist attended; their preliminary investigation determined the vehicle left the grid road and entered a culvert.

The grid road was closed for some time, but traffic on Highway 9 was not impacted.

The Saskatchewan Coroners Service also attended the scene.

The investigations into both collisions continue.
