Kindersley Chamber and Downtown Kindersley Association Merge

The Kindersley & District Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce a merger has taken place with the DKA (Downtown Kindersley Association). The vote was ratified at a DKA meeting on Tuesday, March 5th at the Highway Host Restaurant.

Chamber President Jeff Soveran has been advocating for an alliance with the DKA as he feels that because many of the DKA members are also Chamber members, it makes economic sense to only have one organization that looks out for everyone, not just the downtown. In earlier years, the mall had their own association but that has long been dissolved.

Longtime serving DKA President, Randy Ervine, was philosophical about the vote. Partly happy and partly not. Events and programs run by the DKA will continue until their year-end in September. The Chamber will step in and help to coordinate other events in the fall with the help of Randy and other downtown merchants.

So, for now it’s business as usual and the Chamber of Commerce is looking forward to a continuing positive and productive relationship with the DKA as this year moves ahead. Those DKA members who are currently not Chamber members will hopefully come on board and lend their voices and expertise to the Chamber. Everyone’s opinion and concern matter. No matter where you are.

Please contact Randy at Lela’s Music or Kevin at the Chamber office if you have any questions or would like to lend a hand.
