7.5 Magnitude Earthquake Prompts Tsunami Warning for Alaska

“Information is still coming in, but some of the nearby buoys are reporting some tsunami activity,” said Global News chief meteorologist Anthony Farnell. He added that it is still “too early” to tell if there is a threat to B.C.

A 7.5-magnitude earthquake has been detected off the coast of Alaska, the United States Geological Survey says.

The USGS said the earthquake occurred just before 5 p.m. ET on Monday, approximately 94 kilometres southeast of Sand Point.
