A relaxing stroll on a southern New Brunswick beach took a frightening turn after a family was surrounded by water when the tide came in on Saturday.
Four children and three adults had to be rescued after the water caught them off guard, leaving them stranded on a shoal about a kilometre away from shore in Maces Bay, N.B.
“They were standing on dry ground and all of a sudden there was water all around them. They didn’t know what to do,” local fisherman Chuck Breen told CTV Atlantic. He was one of six men who sprang into action to rescue the group.
