Annual K-Town Shakedown Slow-Pitch Tournament

Last weekend, Kindersley was proud to host the first annual K-Town Shakedown Slow-Pitch Tournament.

Lasting from September 16-18, it was put on by the Iron Horse Kindersley Klippers, the Slow Pitch Committee and the Kindersley Chamber of Commerce. The weekend included live music, a home run derby on Saturday, and a dance on Saturday night. 16 teams participated, many of them traveling long distances. “It was good to see some out-of-town teams,” said Josh Gramlich, a main proponent in organizing the event. He said he was happy with the turn-out, with teams from across Saskatchewan and even Alberta competing.

Gramlich supplied the following list of winners:

A side champs- Bomb Squad
Runner up – Blue Jays

B side champs – Sex Pistons
Runner up – KP

C side champs – Fat Kids
Runner up – The Highlites

Derby Champ Mens – Jeff Gartner
Runner up – Brad Gettle

Derby Champ Ladies – Jolene Bogart
Runners up – Cassandra Taylor and Tanya Young-Blais

Overall, Gramlich considers the event to be a success. “We had absolutely no negative feedback,” he said. He states that all the teams were keenly interested in the event and he now hopes that since the news is out, the tournament will be repeated in the future.
