Another School Year Means School Bus Safety

School Bus Safety is a Shared Responsibility

The school season is once again upon us and school buses will be transporting students along our roadways.

While traveling by school bus is one of the safest methods of transportation mishaps and accidents do happen. It is important to remember we all play a role in keeping kids safe.

  • Motorists must remember that when approaching a stopped bus (on a non-divided road) that has its overhead red signal-lights flashing and side stop sign out, must stop before reaching the bus. The motorist cannot proceed until the bus moves or the overhead red signal-lights have stopped flashing.
  • When driving on a road without a median, drivers from both directions must stop when a school bus has red lights flashing.
  • All school buses must stop at all railway crossings, so be prepared to stop yourself.

Together we can keep students safe this school year.
