Jeremy Patzer Wins Conservative Nomination Vote for Cypress Hill-Grasslands

Jeremy Patzer Won Nomination Saturday Night

After nearly two decades there will be a new face representing the Conservative Party for the Cypress Hills-Grasslands riding. Earlier this spring, David Anderson, an MP for nearly 20 years for the riding, announced his retirement from politics.

What followed was a nomination race involving six candidates from across the riding. Due to the sheer size of the riding the voting was held over two days and in four different polling stations. On June 15th in Swift Current, members gathered to hear candidate speeches and celebrate the winner once the ballots were counted.

Jeremy Patzer won the nomination on Saturday after the ballot had gone to the fifth round.

Patzer grew up in the southwest on a family farm and has been living in Swift Current for nearly 10 years. For the past four years he has been involved with the Conservative Party Board of Directors for the riding.

Patser won the nomination over Kyle Bennett, Sean Checkley, Norm Nordgulen, Megz Reynolds, and Kelly Williamson.

The Cypress Hills-Grasslands riding is the second largest riding in the province and has a population of 60,983 (according to 2011 census).
