Kindersley & District Traumatic Events Response Team – Looking For Volunteers

Kindersley & District Traumatic Events Response Team (TERT)

Looking for Volunteers

  •  Volunteer to be part of our Traumatic Debriefing Team
  •  Learn what traumatic debriefing is, how we do it & why we do it?
  •  Specific training is provided so that offering traumatic first response is confident
  •  Find out how you can become involved by inquiring

A few of TERT’s goals and objectives are:

  • To decrease anxiety by providing information and opportunities for emotional expression for individuals that have experienced a traumatic event.
  •  To recognize that traumatic events have both immediate, as well as long-term impact and effective response must be provided, not only during a crisis, but also in the weeks and months that follow.
  •  To empower the community to collectively develop further strategies to respond effectively to traumatic events.

A traumatic event is one that is extraordinary and unpredictable. Human reactions to trauma are, however, quite consistent and predictable. Being aware of, and understanding how people will react in such a situation allows us to develop and implement plans that diffuse those reactions, and prevent them from precipitating further trauma.
