Countdown

As Kindersley stands on the brink of Municipal Election Day and the hours count down until the polls open tomorrow morning (Oct. 26th), the 12 candidates for Council and 2 candidates for mayor are preparing for a big day.

With the community’s marked interest in this year’s election, it is expected that the turnout at tomorrow’s polls will be larger than average.  “It’s definitely exciting to see people involved,” said Chris Douglas, one of the candidates for Council. “A lot of talk turns to elections,” agreed Randy Ervine. Ervine and Douglas are both pleased that the election has generated so much interest.

“People want change, accountability, and action,” observed Ken Francis. He says he is looking forward to the election and believes it’s going to be a “good council” whoever gets in. Gary Becker agrees: “People are going to speak, and they’re going to see change,” he says.

“This election is very important because I believe it could make or break Kindersley,” said Scott Faulds. He hopes that, regardless of the election’s outcome, the Council will become more self-critical and efficient in its spending practices.

“I’m really excited for Kindersley,” says Tammy Anderson-Jackson. “Some great people have stepped up so I think it’s been a win for our community already.”

“The carver model of governance has to go,” said Rob Gilmour, “and people are expecting major changes to administration…I expect tomorrow we will find out the voters want change and I hope to be part of it.”

“I don’t have my hopes up, I don’t have my hopes down,” stated Tom Morris, who is running for Mayor. “Whatever happens, happens.”
